"Thank You" for Karen

Hello there again ... Wow I can't believe I'm here again within a week lol.

This time I've made a thank you card for a friend, Karen.  Karen's daughters, Jade and Gemma went to the same school as Isabella but this year Jade and Gemma changed schools ... Needless to say the girls were devastated and thought their lives were over ... And needless to say that hasn't happened and they are just as best buddies now as they were before lol.

With the girls leaving Karen was left with a double lot of school uniforms from shorts, skorts, dresses, shirts, sports uniform, hats, winter uniform, jacket etc.  One day Karen turned up with 3 huge bags of the uniforms and some of the things were like brand new and never or barely worn! There was so much that Bella would never be able to wear it all so I shared it with her other BFF Libby and we were still left with enough that she can go a fortnight before I have to wash lol ... Karen would not accept any money for the uniforms so I bought her a really lovely candle (Indian Spiced Tea fragrance) from Dusk and made her this card just to say thanks because the words thank you just didn't seem enough.

I've had this Tiddly Inks Wryn image coloured for a couple of weeks now just waiting for me to make a card and this seemed to be the perfect reason to use her.  I found a sketch on C.R.A.F.T which I followed and then the card really seemed to come together from there.  So many of the challenges this week seemed to fit the card so check out below for the ones I'm going to enter this card into.

For Mad for Markers Challenge I used R24/R22/RR21/R20/R00 for dress, R29/R27/R24 and R21/R20/R00 for the hearts and R20 for a little blush

I do want to say that when I've uploaded the photo onto my blog the colours look so washed out compared to how they looked in real life! You can barely see the distressing and inking on all the papers and laces and you can just pick up the kindyglitz along all four edges of the bottom layer of PP but there's nothing I can do about it considering the card has already been given to Karen earlier today ...

Anyway, hope everyone has had a great weekend and the week is not too busy or stressful for you ...

Until Next time
Ciao
Julie

Happy "Mad Hatter" Birthday Trevor

Well folks, it's time for another birthday card .... This one is for our friend Trevor (from our trivia group) and I don't know if I've mentioned before I don't cope with "boy" cards (I think I might say this every time I make one!).  I am such a girly girl card maker ... bling, flowers, pink, lace, pearls, scalloped edges, did I mention pink lol?  Trevor and the rest of the group loved the card and I hope you like it too ...

SO this is my attempt at a "boy" card aged over 9 years lol ...

I must say that this card fits so many amazing challenges out there this week that I don't think I will enter them all coz it's just far too many.  The card follows a sketch from Pixie Dust Studios because I knew I wanted to colour this particular stamp of theirs, "Touch of Depp" all because of the "T" bag in the cup ("T" for Trevor) lol.  Isn't it funny where our mind goes sometimes when creating?

I've used my copics to colour, distressed the tags and my paper with scissors and ink, added a sentiment and some string ... I admitted to the guys that I was sooo tempted to add some girly bling but held back and Trevor was very grateful for that lol ...

CHALLENGES I WOULD LIKE TO ENTER MY CARD INTO:
(Make a tag or use a tag on your creations)
(Male cards are so out of comfort for me and are only ever attempted when I have to ... not for 'fun' lol)
(Make a tag or use a tag on your card/creation)

Used:
Paper - SU! CS, Kaiser & Basic Grey PP
Stamps - Pixie Dust Studios "Touch of Depp" digi stamp, SU! Sentiment
Other - Martha Stewart border punch, string, Tim Holtz distress ink, Nestabilities Fancy Tags die, copics

Saturated Canary Kids Card Swap

Hi there everyone

Just wanted to share a quick post today with the card that Isabella made for the Kids Card Swap that Krista at Saturated Canary arranged.  The idea was so simple yet so incredible and was inspired by her daughter ... Get children who love to make cards involved in swapping cards with each other.  You can read her blog post about it here ...

Bella will also post this on her blog at some stage over the weekend if you would like to pay her a little visit and maybe leave her a comment ... She would really love that and gets a kick out of reading them ... she gets very excited whenever someone leaves a comment for her or she sees that she has a new follower :D

So of course I signed Isabella up lol .... She was paired up with Alessandra from San Jose in California and this is the card she made to send her.  Isabella is very excited to have made a new friend in another country who shares her interest in card making and is looking forward to staying in touch with her when the swap is finished ...

Isabella decided to colour one of Krista's Ragamuffin images, Kate Krafty and coloured her with Prisma markers.  She used my pp and cs from my stash and used my Big Shot and nestabilities for the oval scallop and 'tabs' and a Martha Stewart border punch.  Missy then went through my (really old!) stamps and stamped the sentiments on.  As you can see, Isabella is her mother's daughter and used Tim Holtz Walnut Stain distress ink on just about everything she put on the card and had her first turn of using my new distress-it tool around the edges of her pp.

Have great day and until next time

Ciao
